Story about a 5 years old child
Who donated her Birthday money to charity

Ramya is a 5 year old girl from Marlboro, New Jersey, USA. She celebrated her 5th Birthday in the month of March this year. During that time, some of Ramya’s friends gave her nice Birthday presents to her. A few of them gave money as birthday gift. Ramya kept that money in her drawer and forgot about it.

Recently, her parents cleaned all her drawers and found that money in an envelope. They told Ramya about it. She was so happy to see her money again after such a long time. Parents asked Ramya what she wants to do with that money. (Below are the exact words emailed by her parents)

We asked Ramya what she wanted to do with the money. She said “I’ll keep half, give half to a poor kid”.

Parents were very touched with this. When we saw their email, we were also very touched. They already sent us $44.00 as a donation to our charity. It is a great lesson we could learn from this beautiful child. She gave half of her money to help a poor child. How much percentage of our money we are giving to help others?

We have decided to use this money ($44.00) to award the best performing poor child in the School. We already named this as “Ramya Award”. We appreciate the parents of this child for bringing up the child so well, teaching good things from a very early age. We are very confident that Ramya will be a great example to many children and adults.

Thank You Ramya for your contribution.
May God bless you very much. Our best wishes to you and your parents
